Kadaba, Jan 28: An incident similar to the story of Kantara movie has taken place at Edamangala of the taluk.
In this rare occurrence two sons of Daivanartaka, who died while doing the service for the daiva, took the responsibility of carrying on the service to Daiva done by their late father.
Few months ago, during the annual temple fair of Shiradi temple located at Edamangala, Ullakulu Daiva and Nagabrahma Daiva Nartana was going on. During the offering, 60 years old Kantu Ajila collapsed and died. Later, the villagers were searching for the Daiva Nartaka.
When the villagers sought the help of Prashna Chintane ritual, it came to light that Monappa and Dinesh, sons of late Daiva Nartaka Kantu Ajila should take over the responsibility of their late father. Later, Shiradi Daiva also gave its consent. In the wake of this, both youths were made to stand in front of the Daiva on the day of Nema ritual and were explained how the service of Daiva needs to be done.
The Daiva Nartakas should wear clean cloth and seek the blessings of family and elders of the village. Then Deekshe Boolya will be given in the presence of people who belong to nine directions. This ritual has prime importance in Daivaradhane. Daiva will show its opinion through the newly nominated Daiva Nartakas. Once the nartaka gets the Deekshe or ordinance, he will take on the responsibility of serving Daivas of four villages.
