Mangalore: Steven Rego Chosen for ‘K J Shetty Kadandale Award’

Mangalore, Sep 29: Steven Rego, sub-editor, Vijaya Karnataka, Kannada daily, has been chosen for the ‘K J Shetty Kadandale Award’.

His article on ‘Tragedy of Shankarapura, a Land of Jasmine’, which was published in Vijaya Karnataka recently, was chosen by the jurors as it was an educative article highlighting the effects of excessive use of insecticides.  It drew a contrast between rural and urban living.

The award, instituted in memory of late journalist K J Shetty, comprises Rs 15,000 cash, and a citation letter.  The award will be presented at a function scheduled to be held at Yugapurusha auditorium, Kinnigoli, on Sunday October 2, stated Yugapurusha chief editor Kodattoor Bhuvanabhirama Udupa.
