Kasargod, Mar 11: On the occasion of International Women's Day Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit celebrated women's day for Ukkinadka parishioners on March 10 at Ukkinadka Church. The Way of Cross was held followed by a Holy Eucharist. The main celebrant was Fr Sunil Miranda parish priest who celebrated the Eucharistic celebration and preached a meaningful homily for the women and to the faithful who gathered for the Mass. After the Holy Mass, they gathered in the church mini hall for a stage programme.
The programme was presided over by Fr Sunil Miranda, parish priest of Ukkinadka Church. Aysha A former vice president of Enmakaje gram panchayat was the resource person. Yesu Prasad vice president of Kasargod deanery Catholic Sabha unit, Elizabeth Crasta vice president of Kumbdaje gram panchayat, Joy Monteiro vice president of Ukkinadka parish council, Sarini Crasta secretary of Ukkinadka parish council, Elias D'Souza president of Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit, Amith D'Souza secretary of Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit, Sani lady representative of Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit were the dignitaries seated on dais.
The programme started with a prayer dance by Catechism children. The dignitaries were welcomed offering rose plants by Sandhya D'Souza. The resource person explained the importance of women's day and the respect of women in the society and home.
The presidential address was given by Fr Sunil Miranda. Yesu Prasad explained the necessity of women leadership in the society. Few games were conducted for the women of the church and enjoyed well. Finally, all women honoured by offering a rose plant by the president Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit. Gifts were given for winners of the games by the parish priest. Breakfast was given to all the people gather there by Catholic Sabha Ukkinadka unit.
The ceremony was conducted by Nancy D'Souza and vote of thanks was done by Elizabeth Crasta. The programme ended with planting a flower plant at parish garden.
