Mangaluru, Apr 11: The annual festivities at the Goddess Rajarajeshwari Temple in Polali, known for its month-long duration and unique traditions, came to a close with the conclusion of the 'Chendu' event, including the 'Kade Chendu' game on Wednesday, April 10.

Devotees from distant and nearby areas enthusiastically participated in the event, each representing their respective villages in the 'Chendu' game.

Throughout the five-day celebration, various events such as Kumara Teru, Hoo Teru, Soorya Mandala, Chandra Mandala, and Pallakki Utsav were organized. Following the conclusion of 'Chendu', the 'Deevatige Salamu Bali' ceremony took place, leading up to the grand finale, the 'Polali Rathotsava'.

Legend has it that in 1686, Rani Chennamma was captivated by the 'Chendu' sport, played as part of the annual festivities at the Polali temple, situated along the banks of the river Phalguni, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
