Kundapura, Apr 23: “Students have been subjected to chaos in this year’s CET examination as they were given questions that were out of syllabus. The examination needs to be withdrawn and a re-examination should be held. In addition, the erring officials should be suspended,” said JD (S) leader and MLC Bhoje Gowda.
Gowda further said, “Around three lac students wrote the Common Entrance Test (CET) examination conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority for engineering and other professional courses. Out of this more than 45 out of syllabus questions were asked in Biology, Maths, Physics and Chemistry subjects. Thereby the officials of KEA have exhibited their negligence."
“Generally the syllabus for CET includes the textbook subjects that are prescribed for first and second PU students. So whatever syllabus the Karnataka PU board gives to students in the first and second PU, CET question paper needs to be set by KEA. The negligence of KEA officials is the reason for this confusion," he said.
Bhoje Gowda further said, “They have published lessons that were excluded in the PU board website. On the website there are subjects of the first and second PU. However, without taking them into account, they have added the excluded lessons as well and prepared the question papers. KEA should immediately give a clarification on the 45% of the questions that were asked out of syllabus. This is the responsibility of KEA department and the government. Erring officials should be kept under suspension immediately. In addition, based on the prescribed syllabus a re-examination needs to be held soon.”
