Kadaba, Apr 24: Kadaba taluk in Dakshina Kannada district registered a scorching temperature of 40.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking the highest temperature recorded this summer.

Although the mercury soared to 40.7 degrees Celsius by 2:30 pm, it felt as hot as 45 degrees Celsius, according to sources from the Meteorological Department. On April 5, the same taluk experienced a temperature of 39.9 degrees Celsius.

In Mangaluru city, the maximum temperature touched 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 25 degrees Celsius, contributing to a warm day.

Despite rainfall occurring two days ago in the district, there has been no respite from the heat. The atmospheric pressure continues to rise steadily.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that hot winds will sweep through the coastal areas for the next three days (until August 26), potentially causing the maximum temperature to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. With the retreat of rain, a sweltering climate prevails, presenting a challenge to voter turnout in coastal Karnataka.

""Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted that hot winds will sweep through the coastal areas for the next three days (until August 26)"" ::: from their prediction given in the released news report, these officials seem to be not even bothered about counter checking their reports (see the date mentioned); ridiculous?????
