Gurgaon, Oct 13 (IANS): The district administration has taken strong exception to the workers' strike in Maruti-Suzuki plant at Manesar and at Suzuki's two-wheeler plant. The workers have been advised to refrain from taking law into their hands.
The workers have alleged that the administration "is a puppet of Maruti Suzuki India Limited".
This decision was taken at a meeting of senior officers of district administration, police and labour department on Wednesday. The meeting was held in the office of Commissioner of Police S.S. Deswal and attended by Labour Commissioner Satwanti Ahlawat, Deputy Commissioner P.C. Meena, Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Mittal, Additional Labour Commissioner Nitin Yadav and Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Maheshwar Dayal.
In the meeting, the officers of labour department informed that a notice of breach of agreement has been issued to the striking workers of Maruti-Suzuki Manesar plant and Suzuki two wheeler plants. The Labour Commissioner said that the strike called by the Union of workers of Suzuki PowerTrain India Ltd and Suzuki Motor Cycle India Ltd has been declared illegal and the process for cancellation of the 'union' has been initiated by the Labour department. The strike of workers in Maruti Suzuki Private India Ltd has also been declared illegal.
It was also decided in the meeting that movement of men and material in all the three plants should be free and workers sitting on strike inside the plants have been advised to vacate the premises of the companies/ plants immediately so that a conducive atmosphere of negotiations can be created. It was deliberated in the meeting that the presence of striking workers inside the plants was illegal and unlawful. If they want to remain on strike, they are advised to sit outside the plant after taking due permission from the administration.
The officers in the meeting appealed to all the unions of workers that they should refrain from taking law into their hands and should not resort to any unlawful activity. Rather they should cooperate the district administration and labour department in preparing congenial atmosphere for negotiations, the officers added.
Workers on strike alleged that the Haryana government and local administration are "blindly supporting" the managements of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) Suzuki plants. MSIL, Manesar plant's worker's president Sonu Gujjar said, 'we are fighting for our rights but the company management and administration shows the face of capitalist. we will not give up the fight.' Executive member of Suzuki workers union maintained: "we will not leave the agitation place."
