Bantwal: Auto Rickshaw Operators Stage Protest, Demand Reforms

Bantwal, Oct 13: Auto rickshaw drivers and owners jointly staged a protest rally from B C Road to Kaikamba here on Thursday October 13, urging the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to fulfill their various demands.

The protesters demanded a ban on auto rickshaws with rural permits operating under municipal limits, or to allocate rural and town zones which would make it easier for RTA to take legal action; to repair the roads which are in deplorable condition across the taluk; to set up traffic police station in the centre of the city and to allot auto rickshaw parking at a suitable spot that would be convenient for passengers.

The lawyer Narayan Poojary, A Govind Prabhu, S Adam Haji, P Jayaram Rai, Hussein, Vasant Kumar, Dayanand and several auto rickshaw drivers and owners participated in the protest.

The protest by auto rickshaw drivers brought normal life to a standstill.
