Cine Awards : 'Kazar' Bags Regional, Vishnu, Anu Best Actors

Bangalore, Oct 20: State Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, announced the winners of the annual cine awards, at a press conference hurriedly convened at Vidhan Soudha here on Wednesday October 19 evening. While Vishnuvardhan has been adjudged as the best actor for his performance in the movie, ‘Aptarakshaka’, Anu Prabhakar got top honours for her able portrayal of her role in the movie, ‘Pareekshe’. Vishnuvardhan is the first person ever in Kannada movie history to get this award posthumously.

Konkani film, ‘Kazaar’, produced by Frank Fernandes of Ferns International movies has been picked up as best film in regional language. Larry Fernandes (Rohit) and Harshika Punacha played lead roles in the movie. Richard Castelino has directed 'Kazar'.

‘Rasarishi Kuvempu’, a film directed by Ritwik Simha, has been chosen as the best movie, while ‘Manasare’ directed by Yogaraj Bhat and ‘Love Guru’ by Prashant B N have been adjudged the second and third best movies. ‘Shabari’ by Ramachandra Baragur has been chosen as the best film on social issues. The awards meant for children’s films have gone to ‘Kinnara Bale’ and ‘Gurukula’. Both the director and producer of the film, ‘Rasarishi Kuvempu’ will get a lac of rupees in cash and 50 grams gold medal. The producers and directors of second and third best films will get Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 in cash respectively, and silver medal of 100 grams.

Dr Rajkumar Award being given to persons with distinguished services to Kannada filmdom has gone to veteran film personality, R N Sudharshan. Senior film producer, S D Ankalagi, has been chosen for the lifetime achievement Vishnuvardhan award. C V Shivashankar, who has committed himself to the cause of Kannada, has bagged the Puttanna Kanagal award. Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar has been chosen as the best story writer, while Guruprasad got the award for the best screenplay for the film, ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’. The award for best cinematography has gone to Sundarnath Suvarna for ‘Kallara Santhe’.  Harikrishna has been adjudged the best music director.

The awardees were chosen by a selection committee formed for that purpose. Chairman of the committee, Dwarakish, and members, were present at the press conference.

Frank F has indeed made the KONKAN WORLD proud and brought the KONKANI LANGUAGE to the forefront in the movie world. It is a lead to other enterpreneurs.     those who have watched the movie "KAZAR" know very well if this movie really deservs any award. i am sure this is the only regional movie in the race so that the Jury had to give the award to this film. any way well tried. wis the best for futre assighnments.
