Percept to Release Shamim Desai's Film

Mumbai, Oct 26 (IANS): Percept Pictures pictures will release late director Shamim Desai's almost-finished film on media manoeuvrings entitled "Rafaar 24x7", with a new title - "Play".

Desai died of cancer in January.

Apparently the producers are willing to enchance the film's eyeball-grabbing quota but only without tampering with Desai's vision.

Set for a release at the end of this year, the film will also have additional songs, special effects and a music video featuring lead actor Emraan Hashmi.

When contacted Shailendra Singh of Percept said: "Yes, we're looking at releasing Shamim's film. It's the least we can do for him. We believe he has made a fine film that does his memory proud. But we don't it to be a haphazard release. Efforts are being made to spruce up the product."

The film was rushed to Delhi last week when the actor was shooting for "Jannat 2" for his approval and further contribution.

"It is felt that Emraan could lift the film to a commercially saleable proposition. The theme of Shamim's film -- the electronic media's hunger for sensational news- has already been done by Ram Gopal Varma's 'Rann'. The idea now is to make Shamim's film look contemporary and fresh in theme and look," said a source close to the project.
