Ford India's Total Sales Grew in October

Chennai, Nov 1 (IANS): Ford India, the Indian subsidiary of the American auto major Ford Motor Company, closed last month on a healthier note, selling 1880 units more than what it did in October 2010.

The company crossed the 100,000 unit sales market last month for the period January-October this year, clocking a total sales of 101,439 units - up from 77,324 units sold during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Last month, the company sold 8,091 units in the domestic market and shipped out 2,815 units overseas whereas in October 2010 the company had exported over 650 units out of total sales of 9,026 units.

Ford India is silent on the sales break-up for October 2010.

"The festivities at Ford India are continuing past Diwali," said Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India.

"Having crossed last year's sales figures already, we are upbeat about closing the year with a new high," he added.

As part of its growth plans, Ford India opened its 200th sales and service outlet. It is now set to expand its sales and service network to more than 220 outlets in 120 cities by the end of this year, with new dealerships coming up at 13 new locations such as Solapur, Gulbarga and Tirupur.
