Chikmagalur: Labourers Hired to Spray Insecticide Die

Chikmagalur, Nov 9: Two persons, who were hired for spraying insecticide to anthurium plants, died presumably due to the after affects of inhaling the insecticide. The incident occurred at Makonahalli in Moodigere taluk in the district on Tuesday November 8.

The labourers in question, named Manju (29) and Ravi (30), were working in the plantation of a local coffee planter who also is also active in politics. After returning from work on Monday evening, they suffered from severe headache all through the night. On Tuesday, they were brought to MGM government hospital in Moodigere, as their headache symptoms had aggravated. After the hospital authorities expressed helplessness in treating them, one of them was taken to Chikmaglur, while the other was moved to a hospital in Mangalore. However, both of them succumbed before they could reach the hospitals.

Cases of unnatural deaths were registered in Moodigere police station in this respect. The policemen have begun investigation.
