Udupi, Nov 9: Giving details of his dreams for Pajaka Kshetra where Madhwacharya was born, district in-charge minister, Dr V S Acharya, said that the government plans to set up Madhwacharya Theme Park in association with the department of tourism there.  He was speaking to press persons during his visit to Kunjarugiri Pajaka Kshetra on Tuesday November 8.

“The plans are to bring before the tourists the visions of miracles associated with Madhwacharya during his lifetime, through monuments. A documentary film on Madhwacharya with light and sound effects will also be brought out,” Acharya said.

He added that a statue of Lord Srikrishna will be installed in St Mary’s island near Malpe at a cost of about five crore rupees, towards transforming the island into a tourism-cum-religious centre, and that grant from the government has already been released for the purpose. Work on erecting a 45 ft high statue of Madhwacharya is progressing well at Malpe-Vadabhadeshwara, he said. “We have plans to bring up botanical garden, park, and road connectivity from Pajaka Kshetra to Parashurama cave etc. Efforts will be made to vest the ownership of land around the temple, which was once owned by the temple, back to the temple administration for creating the above facilities. Works are likely to begin within a month. I will talk to the Chief Minister on this issue,” he promised.

District deputy commissioner, Dr M T Reju, MLA, Raghupati Bhat, zilla panchayat president, Katapadi Shankar Poojary, taluk panchayat president, Devadas Hebbar, PWD chief engineer, Chandrashekhar, zilla panchayat executive engineer, Sridhara Murthy, and official of Nirmithi Kendra, Arun Kumar, were present.

I think that Mr. Acharya has been influenced by Ms. Mayavathi, who is famous for wasting public money on statues and parks.

I request Mr. Acharya, to utilise the 5 crores to stop the Sea Erosion in the coastal area, and gain the blessing of the coastal people.
