Mangaluru: Man suffers cardiac arrest on bus, dies despite efforts to save him

Mangaluru, Aug 6: In a compassionate act, the driver and conductor of a private bus rushed a passenger to the hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday. However, the man succumbed before reaching the hospital.

The Pereira Travels bus was traveling from Mangaluru to Manipal around 8:30 am on Monday when a passenger boarded at Kottara Chowki. Shortly after, the man collapsed and became unresponsive. Linet, an assistant lecturer at Kaup Nursing College, administered first aid and alerted the driver and conductor that the man had suffered a cardiac arrest. The driver and conductor immediately diverted the bus to Mukka hospital.

Anil, the conductor, said, "As soon as the passenger boarded the bus, he collapsed on a fellow passenger. Initially, I thought it was epilepsy, but we soon realized it was a heart attack and decided to rush him to the hospital. The hospital staff attended to him immediately."

Driver Ravi added, "The passenger used to ride our bus regularly before the onset of COVID in 2020, but I had not seen him since then."

Linet explained, "I performed CPR on the man as he collapsed due to cardiac arrest, but he was unresponsive. I then instructed the driver and conductor to take him to the nearest hospital."

Despite the best efforts of the co-passenger, driver, and conductor, the man unfortunately succumbed before reaching the hospital.

Yes last episode where a student had gone breathless in the local bus and the driver took the bus to the Fr. Muller s Hospital ,CPR treatment was given by the Yenepoya Allied Health Science college students travelling in the same bus which saved the life of that student. Some places god sends angels in disguise.

let this not become a trend when a city like manga land or udu pee land have several hospitals and ambulances...anyway the job that was done by the three apatbhandavas was really good...but as far as possible dont rush like mads on roads as people and other motorits would not know that this bus has a patient who needs emergecny...it may create some other problem or accident on road.

This could have been stated with a little more respect and politeness towards those who try to help fellow citizens. Putting ourselves into their shoes (patient or those helping) is of utmost importance before commenting. Comments, however well-meaning, need not be disrespectful in any manner.

Heart breaking news this time. All the efforts went all in vain.We see so many news like this. When the person suffered heart attack there was no way for the conductor driver other then to drove the bus directly to the hospital and immediately they turn the bus into ambulance to save the patient somehow and anyhow. The kind thoughts will always be remembered .
