The incident reportedly occurred on November 1. Kabir has been accused of enticing a 16-year-old girl in the name of love, and doling out promise of marrying here. He then took the girl to lodges in Palakkad and Tiruvalla, where she was raped.

The parents of the girl had filed a missing complaint at Vidyanagar police station here. The policemen, during the course of investigation, found out that Kabir had also gone missing from the town. With the help of the Cyber Cell personnel, they found out that Kabir was in Palakkad. A team of policemen lead by circle inspector, Babu Peringot, went to Palakkad and made enquiries. After finding that Kabir was in a lodge, the policemen raided the lodge and took both Kabir and the girl into custody from there.
