Mangalore, Nov 13: To express strong disapproval for the proposed ‘Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill-2011’ Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike, city unit will hold massive protest meet at Nehru Maidan on Wednesday November 23 at 4pm.

Informing about it to reporters here, at a press meet here on Saturday November 12, Dr P Vaman Shenoy, honorary president, Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike said that the proposed bill is opposed by the main opposition party in the centre BJP and even leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nithish Kumar, Jayalalitha are against it the bill since it is just an eyewash act by the UPA government to divert the attention of general public as UPA’s prestige is marred by its neck deep corruption. Hence it should not be passed in the next winter session as proposed, he said.

Adding further he said that the proposed bill aims at dividing the nation based on religion. The bill aims at favoring minority communities and it is a bias move, he opined.

On November 23, the protest will also be held in Udupi. In Mangalore a massive protest procession will be taken out from Jyothi Circle to Nehru Maidan at 3pm.

As many as 50,000 people are expected to take part. State level hindu outfit leaders will deliver their speech, he informed. However the list of leaders who will address the gathering is not yet finalized, he said.

S Ramesh, president, Hindu Hitharakshana Vedike, Mangalore, leaders Manohar Tulajaram, Jagadeesh Shenava and Sharan Pumpwell among others were present.

Why are the majority hindus afraid of the minorities who are less than 20% of the total population? Are they not strong enough in their own faith or what is ailing them? This bill is designed to protect the minorities against communal attacks by some radical elements from the majority as it happened in Gujarat. But the opposite is not possible. Have you ever heard of a single attack by the minorities on the majority???

So, should a common person understand that an attack on a non-hindu is justified as per Rakshana Vedeke ?

That our young men have pending cases against them that were filed in previous attacks but the attackers live a free life is not a matter of concern to Vedike at all ?

Does it mean that a non-Hindu has no right to live a life of liberation and dignity ?

Should it be understood that there are more attacks in the agenda of Rakshana Vedike, hence, they are offended by a bill that will take action against those who will instigate communal violence ?
