Chamarajanagar, Nov 14: In a bizarre accident, two KSRTC employees were crushed by a bus at the KSRTC depot on Sunday November 13.

The engine of a KSRTC bus bearing registration No. KA 09 F 3258 was not starting even after repeated efforts. Therefore, mechanics of the depot were pushing the bus, when the engine roared to life all of a sudden. The driver could not control the bus, and ran over Mohammed Ghouse (35), driver attached to Bidar depot, and Somanna (50), a conductor from Nanjanagud.

The two had reported for duty and walking towards their duties assigned for them, when they lost their lives. The KSRTC drivers, conductors, and other employees, went on a flash strike, against the apathy of the higher authorities in KSRTC, who failed to appear even after two hours of the accident. As such, movement of buses was severely affected. The striking employees also staged a road blockade in the town for some time.

A case was registered in the local police station.
