Bangalore: Rs 60 Lac for Study Tours of SC/ST Students - CM

Bangalore, Nov 14: The State Government has set aside Rs 60 lac for arranging study tours of high school students belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe in the State in 2011-12, Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said on Monday.

Speaking to presspersons after flagging off a study tour of students to various historical places in the State on Monday, the Chief Minister said SC and ST students studying in schools run by the social welfare department would be selected for the touRs

As many as 40 students from each district would be selected for the tour this year.

A sum of Rs 2 lac has been set aside for each district for conducting tours, he said.

In the first phase, students from Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Bangalore Rural, Kolar, Ramangaram and Koppal districts would tour various historical and heritage places in the State, Gowda said.

The social welfare department has arranged the tour.

Kannada and Culture Minister Govind M Karjol and MLA S R Vishwanath were present.
