Puttur, Nov 15: “A town that is emerging as a cultural hub needs an organized theater,” opined veteran dramatist Ramachandra Deva.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of ‘Attamutta –2011’, a two-day children’s ‘Natakotsav’, held at Ramakrishna High School on Friday November 11. It was organized by ‘Nirara Niranta–Bahuvachanam’.
“The legendary Shivaram Karanth had given due importance to children’s literature that would realize his dream by setting up a theater,” he added Savanoor Sitaram Rai, correspondent of Vidhyarashmi Vidhyalaya, Savanoor, inaugurated the Natakotsav.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that the need of the hour is to lay due emphasis on cultural activities that would attribute to the all round development of children. Artist Mohana Sona presided over the programme.
Ramakrishna High School headmaster H Sridar Rai, and stage artiste I K Bolwar were present on the dais.
Dr Srisha Kumar of Bahuvachanam compered the programme. Journalist Mounesh Vishwakarma proposed the vote of thanks.
The drama ‘Hamlet’ was staged by the members of Kinnara Mela on the occasion.
