Kundapur, Nov 15: A youth died on the spot after a truck fell into a roadside ditch near Hallibail of Hallihole village in the taluk on the evening of Monday November 14.
The deceased has been identified as Raghavendra (21), resident of Vatebachchalu in Hallihole. The truck was carrying laterite stones to Kabinale from Ulal Mutt of Kamalashile village.
Reportedly, the truck started moving back because of the heavy load, while negotiating a steep road near Hallibail. The conductor of the truck, who fell into the ditch, could not save his life, as the load of laterite stones got emptied on him, it is learnt.
A case was registered in Shankarnarayana police station. Investigation has been taken up.
