Mangalore, Nov 16: The 58th All India Co-operative Week which is annually celebrated from November 14 – 20 was observed at Loyola Hall, here on Tuesday November 15.
The All India Cooperative Week celebration started in the year 1954 and coincides with the birthday (November 14) of Late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, the architect of modern India who was then aware of the importance of cooperative society in building the nation.
J Krishna Palemar, after inaugurating the new launch of loan-for-gold facility from SCDCC bank, said, ‘It’s a proud week for all of us to step into the 58th annual day celebration from its inception’.
The co-operative society has been the backbone of the society by helping the farmers, especially in villages. It supports all sets of people. This, in return has been the reason behind the progress in the genres like farming, animal husbandry, he added.
He appreciated the initiative taken by MN Rajendra Kumar, Chairman, SCDCC Bank for providing facilities like gold loan, dairy farming, and agricultural loans for the villagers through cooperative society.
N Yogish Bhat, deputy speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly felicitated B Padmanabh Borker and S Dhinakar Shetty, the chairmen, for taking their respective cooperative societies to great heights. He then praised the development of the society and its impact in the welfare of each section.
M N Rajendra Kumar felicitated few of the cooperative societies for their extreme growth. Speaking on the occasion, he explained how to make use of the gold loan facility, praised JT Devegowda, Chairman, Karnataka State Cooperative Board, Bangalore and J Somashekhar Shette, Chairman, Karnataka Cooperative Milk Federation, Bangalore for his constant support.
The cooperative society chairman MN Rajendra Kumar, donated rupees 2 lac to J Krishna Palemar for the benefit of one of the temples. There was huge crowd from different villages present, and comparatively women were more in number. Nandini products were also sold at the venue.
