Moodbidri, Nov 17: Nemiraj Jain, personal assistant (PA) of local MLA, Abhay Chandra Jain, held protest in front of the milk dairy in Padumarnad village along with his cow, claiming that he was unable to get justice from Padumarnad Milk Producers Cooperative Society, on Wednesday November 16.

At around 7 am on Wednesday, Nemiraj appeared in front of the dairy along with a bagful of oilcakes and his cow, and sat in dharna. He complained that the dairy had not been supplying oilcakes in enough quantities to feed his cow. He also said that the milk weighing machine and the machine installed for determining fat content of milk were defective, and that they had not been repaired even after complaints were filed. He also expressed anger at the fact that people who were not subscribing milk to the society also were receiving bonus, by just becoming its members.

“All these points had been raised at the general body meeting of the society. However, there is no favourable response. Hence, I am left with no other alternative but to resort to this form of protest,” he told the press persons.

Immediately after learning about this unique method of protest, extension officer of Moodbidri Zone Milk Producers Society, Tanidar Udupa, rushed to the spot. After he promised to take prompt action to address the above concerns,  Nemiraj agreed to end his  protest.

At the same time, president of Padumarnad Milk Producers Cooperative Society, Dayanand Pai, said that all the information sought by Nemiraj under Rights to Information Act had been supplied, and that all the grievances can be redressed if they are given to the society’s board of directors in writing.
