Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College hosts inter-school, inter-collegiate fest 'Agnathon 2k24'

Mangaluru, Sep 11: "Agnathon 2k24", an inter-school and inter-collegiate fest was held in St Agnes PU College on Tuesday, September 10.

The day-long fest was conducted with great flourish and exuberance with the mesmerising and attractive theme of "Lucelence - Stars of Tomorrow." Lucelence represents the shining potential and brilliance of tomorrow’s stars, embodying the spirit of excellence and the promise of a bright future.

The fest was inaugurated by the chief guest Sharan Chilimbi, digital content creator and popular influencer with a massive fan following in Dakshina Kannada. The chief guest, along with the special guests, Siddharth Shetty and Wencita Dias, both celebrated cine stars were escorted to the venue by a ceremonial guard of honour. Their presence added glamour to the event, inspiring students with their success stories and encouraging them to pursue their dreams with determination.

The star-studded celebrations were defined by the irrepressible energy and dynamism of the youthful participants from various schools and colleges. A solemn prayer song and a welcome dance abounding in colour set the tone for the day. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

In his speech, the chief guest emphasised the importance of creativity and innovation. He encouraged the participants
to harness their potential and strive for excellence. Education, he said is a thing worth striving for, it would help spring you forward in the world. 

Siddharth Shetty addressed the students and said that pre-university is the bridge to a buoyant future. Wencita Dias praised her alma mater and spoke about how integral communication skills are in a world where English is the lingua franca.

Rochelle Joan, student president compered the inaugural session and Elaine Gia D'Souza welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest and the special guests, while Ms Lisha Fathima proposed the vote of thanks.The valedictory of the fest was presided over by Hera Pinto, acclaimed emcee, fashion designer and event organiser.

In her closing speech, Hera Pinto praised the participants and organisers and highlighted the importance of such fests in providing a platform for students to excel beyond academics. She exhorted them to embrace their flaws and convert their weaknesses into strength.

Manvitha R K, student vice-president compered the event and Shreya Bijesh welcomed the audience and introduced the guest of honour, while Inas Ayesha rendered the vote of thanks.

The fest was brimming with several exciting competitions and activities designed to challenge and showcase the talents of the students. The events were aligned with the theme of identifying and nurturing the “Stars of Tomorrow.”

Dr Sr Maria Roopa AC, joint secretary, St Agnes Group of institutions, principal Sr Norine DSouza, vice-principal Sr Janet Sequeira, the convenors Supriya Shenoy and Arshiya Patel, the faculty, students, PTA vice-president Dr Divya Damodhar,
joint secretray Shahida Ashraf, student president Rochelle and vice-president Manvitha, sisters of St Agnes Convent, Sr Gloria, headmistress, St Agnes High School and staff of Sham Institute were an intrinsic part of the occasion.

Lourdes Central School won the runners-up trophy and Mount Carmel Central School won the prestigious overall championship at the high school level. St Aloysius PU College garnered the runners-up trophy while Canara PU College won the impressive overall championship at the pre-university level.

"Agnathon 2k24" was a poignant reminder that dreams, when nurtured with unwavering resolve, can blossom into reality.
