Kundapur, Oct 7: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary recently met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Karnataka State Railway Minister V Somanna to submit an appeal for initiating train services from Karwar to Tirupati and Hyderabad via the Kundapur-Udupi-Mangaluru route.

The demand for a direct train service to the renowned pilgrimage center of Tirupati from the coastal districts of Karnataka has been ongoing for over a decade. The Kundapur Railway Passengers' Welfare Committee brought this issue to the attention of MP Kota Poojary. In response, the MP held discussions with the MD of Konkan Railway and officials from South Western Railway, before formally submitting the appeal to the union railway minister.

The railway ministry has responded positively, assuring that train services to Tirupati and Hyderabad from coastal Karnataka will be initiated soon.

It is reported that the union railway minister was impressed by the fact that nearly every household in the coastal region makes visits to Tirupati. Additionally, this new service would benefit entrepreneurs and employees from coastal Karnataka who work and conduct business in Hyderabad.

If this train service to Hyderabad is launched, Konkan Railway will offer connections from the coastal region to all southern Indian states, including Tirupati.
