Bangalore: CBSE Syllabus for PUC from Next Academic Year

Bangalore: CBSE Syllabus for PUC from Next Academic Year

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 29: The state government, which has sought two years time for bringing its student under the ambit of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Medical (MBBS) seats, has decided to introduce Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus for pre-university classes with effect from next academic year.

The government has taken this decision as the NEET question papers are based on CBSE curriculum. CBSE curriculum will be introduced for first PUC in 2012, and the same will be continued in the second PU classes. The state government has decided to be brought under the NEET net with effect from 2014.

An agreement for a uniform combined entrance test all over the country had been reached last year itself. However, the final decision was suddenly postponed by a year at the last moment. Addressing a press conference, minister for higher education, Dr V S Acharya, said on Monday November 28, that the students of the state need some time to adapt to the new syllabus, as there are changes between the PUC curriculum followed by the state and the centre.

Acharya also said that the state will approach the courts, if union health minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who has been requested for  time till 2014 to fall in line with NEET, does not agree to the state’s request.  He expressed the optimism that NEET will benefit the students of the state, and that the state will not stand to lose as far as quota of the state is concerned. “It is true that we have to set aside 15 percent of seats in deemed, aided, and unaided medical colleges. But the same number of seats will be available to our students at the national level,” he explained.

This is a good decision by the government. At last someone is there in Karnataka to look into the genuine education problem due to different syllabus in various states where by preventing outside States Students to secure more scores in line with Karnataka Students too. Under Education for All Program, all States should support the cause to implement uniformity in Education System too. Moreover, whether it is Private or Public, Aided or Non-Aided, all Education up to 10th Standard should be free of cost too so that no one is deprived his right to Education at least up to 10th Standard.

introducing CBSE from 1st onwards is a good idea and not 12th downwards. children who studied 1 to10th in state will find it extremely difficult to cope up with CBSE PUC 1 and 11. Government should reconsider it again. It's like Tuglaq Muhammad shifting his capitals here and there.

Overall education has to be improved in K'taka. Many districts in North Karnataka records the pass percentage in 10/12 as low as 15-30%.

In DK/Udupi/UK/ we get good education even in Kannada medium/Govt schools. In other districts teaching faculty themselves will be absent in Govt schools. This has to be looked upon by the government and uniformity has to be achieved.

Recently I visited an NGO (www.sgrv.org) in a village of Doddaballapur district which is just 55 KM from Bangalore city. To my surprise education is still unreached to them. Parents are sending their kids to work in farms not to schools. People still believe that education can not earn them bread & butter. Just imagine the situation in Raichur, Koppal, Gulbarga, Bidar districts.

After seeing the situation there, I considered myself very lucky for having born in Udupi district. Though I studied in Govt Schools till 12th, I feel I got the best.

Karnataka Education is meant for state level Private Medical college & Engineering colleges.
Central Governmnet : CBSE Syallabus is must to compete with National level. You can find Students from Norther state, Andhra & Madras doing better than Kranataka stste Board.
Examimation for IIT, AIEEE , AIPMT seats are not filled by Karntaka students -B'coz of not competing and lack of Knowledge of CBSE based teaching. Finally ,Its time to get into CBSE and try to be competitive all over INDIA and ONE exam common is good for ALL INDIAN STATE and Children to avoid mental pressure of for giving differnt Examination Like, CET, KOMDEK, IIT,AIEEE,ISAT , etc.

This is a good decision by the government. There are many people who get transfers from one state to another state and this uniformity will go a long way in alliviating their situation.
