Mangaluru, Oct 23: Moved by the plight of a young girl suffering from a neurological disorder, youngsters from "Team Hanuman" in Ullal, Dharmanagara raised Rs 1,43,330 through a tableau and Yakshagana costumes during the Sharadotsava festival. The cheque was handed over to the victim's family, setting a noble example for the youth community.

The energetic youth of "Team Hanuman" have been donning Yakshagana costumes every year during the Navaratri festival and setting up a tableau at the Ullal Sharadotsava to collect donations. The funds raised are always dedicated to helping the underprivileged sections of society.

Santosh and Yamuna, residents of Neerumarga, Mangaluru, are the parents of Kumari Pavitra, who requires lakhs of rupees for treatment due to a neurological disorder. To support her treatment, the youth of "Team Hanuman" once again donned Yakshagana costumes during the Navaratri festival, staging their third annual tableau performance at the Ullal Sharadotsava. The funds raised through generous donations, amounting to Rs 1,43,330, were handed over to Pavitra's parents.

The cheque was presented at a simple event held on Sunday at the Nagabrahma Parivara Daivasthana in Dharmanagara, Ullal. The chief priest of Chirumbh Bhagavathi Kshetra, Manjappa Karnavar, handed over the cheque to the victim's family. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “These young individuals have formed an exemplary organization that has become a role model for society. This team should continue moving forward together. While some groups use funds raised through tableaux for personal enjoyment, Team Hanuman has set a precedent by using the money collected from compassionate donors to help the needy each year.”

Narayan, honorary president of Tenging Hithlu Rahuguli Bana, praised the youth and said, “Team Hanuman's initiative of donning costumes and collecting funds during festivals for the sake of others in need is a model for all youngsters. Such teams should stay united and not be divided. With selfless service as their mission, these youths should lead their organization as one. May the government recognize your noble work with high honors.”

During the event, financial assistance was also distributed to other eligible families in need by Team Hanuman. Monthly grocery kits were provided to disadvantaged families.

Present at the event were Gopal Dharmanagara, honorary president of Nagabrahma Parivara Daivasthana in Dharmanagara, Prabhakar Dharmanagara, president of the temple, Narayan Tenginhithlu, honorary president of Rahuguli Bana, Bhaskar Tenginhithlu, president, Surekha Dharmanagara, president of the Mahila Mandali, Mund Yane Damodar Poojary, chief priest of Bailu Vaidyanath Kshetra, Mangala, president of the Ullal Sharada Kunita Bhajana group, Bhaskar Poojary Dharmanagara, and Pavan Katiger, president of Team Hanuman.
