Mangaluru, Nov 1: The Karnataka Rajyotsava was celebrated at St Agnes High School on November 1 with the staff and the students gathered in the school ground. The headmistress hoisted the flag to commemorate the formation of Karnataka state in 1956, uniting Kannada-speaking regions.
A short but meaningful programme to honour Karnataka's language, culture and heritage was hosted by class 9 A ,under the guidance of Tr Sunitha. The programme began with a prayer song Hacchevu Kannadada Deepa. The student’s invoked blessings for the state and its people through short prayers.Yamanuri welcomed the gathering with his vibrant welcome speech.
Girls of the class performed a lively welcome dance. Prithviraj shared the significance of Karnataka Rajyotsava, explaining how Karnataka was formed on November 1, 1956. The highlight of the event was a drama based on Kittur Rani Chennamma, the warrior queen of Karnataka. The students brilliantly enacted scenes of her valiant fight against British rule, capturing her courage and resilience. A quiz on Karnataka’s culture, history, and famous personalities followed the drama. A lively dance performance for the song Huttidare Kannadanadalli brought the spirit of Karnataka to life.
The headmistress Sr Gloria AC addressed the students, congratulating them for their efforts in celebrating Karnataka Rajyotsava. She encouraged everyone to take pride in Kannada language and Karnataka’s contributions to the nation. The Karnataka state anthem, “Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate,” was sung by all in unison. G Kaveri expressed her gratitude to everyone contributions to making the event a success. Sandara Sonia and Gowri compered the entire celebration.
