Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Nov 3: The BJP district unit in Udupi has organized a major protest on November 6 against the ongoing Wakf land controversy, mobilizing thousands of participants from across the district. The party has announced its plans to gather over a thousand people at each taluk office in Udupi, with similar protests expected across all five constituencies in the district.

District BJP president Kishore Kumar said religious leaders, farmers, Dalits, and affected citizens will join the demonstration. A march will begin at Coin Circle in Manipal, leading to the district commissioner’s office, as a show of solidarity.

The movement will continue on November 7 and 8, with protests at the taluk offices, where activists plan to submit demands to review the disputed land records (pahani). Groups of BJP workers will approach each taluk office in waves, pressing officials to address the concerns surrounding land ownership and rights.

Through these efforts, the BJP aims to put pressure on revenue department officials to take immediate action. The party has stated that this two-pronged protest strategy is designed to draw urgent attention to the issue, hoping for swift resolution and justice for those affected by the Wakf land dispute.

The press meet called on this regard was attended by BJP leaders Reshma Uday Kumar Shetty, Herga Dinakar Shetty, Shilpa G Suvarna and Srinidhi Hegde.
