Bangalore: Recruitment for 843 Teaching Vacanies in 10 Govt Medical Colleges

Bangalore, Dec 8: Steps are being taken for recruitment of professors and associate professors and other staff for filling up the 843 vacancies in 10 Government Medical Colleges in the States soon, Karnataka’s Medical Education Minister S A Ramadas told the State Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Replying to a question of H D Revanna, JD(S), the minister said intake of new medical colleges in would be increased from 100 to 150 and steps have been taken to provide buildings in respective colleges.

He said necessary teaching staff and equipment have been given to colleges as per the Medical Council of India regulations.

The Supreme Court has stayed acquisition of lands Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences at Ramanagram, Ramdas said.

Revanna refuted the minister’s claim that the Supreme Court has stayed
the land acquisition at Ramangaram and demanded a constitution of the House committee to go into details.

The Minister has provided wrong information to the House and demanded allotment of time in the house for a detailed discussion of the matter.

The JD(S) leader said the Centre has released Rs 80 crore for taking up construction work of the RGUHS at Ramangaram. But so far no efforts have been made to provide building to the university. He sought explanation for the delay in taking up works.

 
Bhagyalaxmi bonds

Women and Child Development Minister C C Patil told Siddu Savadi(BJP) that the a sum of Rs 559.13 crore has been released in 2011-12 to issue LIC bonds for girl children from below poverty line families.

Many ruling party and Opposition members alleged that the Bhagyalakshmi scheme was in a state of limbo because of the Government’s indecision on the eligibility criterion for this flagship insurance scheme aimed at benefitting girl children from BPL families.
