Mangaluru: Guardian Angel Church organises deanery level cultural competition ‘Yuva Dabazo 2024’

Mangaluru, Nov 6: Singing-dancing and youth is an inseparable duo. The youth are at their best when there is singing and dancing. To tap this talent of the youth, the Young Catholic Students unit of Guardian Angel Church organised deanery level cultural competition – Yuva Dabazo 2024 – on October 31 at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall.

One hundred and thirty youth of YCS from 9 parishes of the Deanery participated in the competition. The competition commenced with Fr James D’Souza, vicar forane of St Peter Deanery inaugurated the event. Fr Fredrick Monteiro, parish priest; Fr Stany Fernandes, socius priest; deacon Br Jeevan Lobo; Fr Vijay Monteiro, director of YCS-St Peter Deanery; Paul Rodrigues, vice president of PPC; Lolina D’Souza, secretary of PPC Renita Menezes, deanery animator; Roshan Patrao, unit animator; Dion Saldanha, diocesan president of YCS; Daryl Monteiro, deanery president of YCS; and Leon D’Souza, unit president were present during the inauguration.

The competition comprised four categories: male solo singing, female solo singing and group singing in the morning and variety programme in the afternoon. There was stiff competition among the units in every category, showcasing the creativity of the youth.

The valedictory programme was held. The winners in each category were given away the prizes. The Cordel unit bagged the championship and Angelore were the runners up.

The programme ended with Baila dance.
