Brahmavar, Nov 10: Biju Mohan (44), a native of Kerala and a laborer at Cochin Shipyard, passed away while in custody at Brahmavar Police Station.

Biju was arrested following allegations of harassing a woman while intoxicated. A complaint was lodged on Saturday, prompting the police to take him into custody and detain him at the station.

According to reports, Biju collapsed in the station's restroom early Sunday morning. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical officers reportedly attributed his death to a possible heart attack.

District superintendent of police Dr Arun Kumar visited the station to review the incident and ensure proper procedures were being followed. Addressing the situation, Dr Arun Kumar said, “On Saturday night, we received a call from locals in Cherkady village reporting that an unknown individual was harassing women and children. Officers responded and took the suspect into custody. The victim lodged a formal complaint, and Biju was held in the lockup. Around 3:45 am, a sentry noticed him in a sitting position with his head bent against the wall. He was immediately shifted to the community health centre in Brahmavar, where he was declared dead. His family has been informed and is on their way to Brahmavar. As this is a custodial death, the case will be transferred to the CID for further investigation, and all due procedures will be followed.”

Looks suspicious.Still one shouldnt immediately jump to the conclusion of failure in Police treatment.Very sad incident.Other side Police too are very rough towards persons who were and put inside.Onething Police should have done before rushing to primary centre ,to feel his pulse and proceed further.Sitting position and head bent towards wall?Bit suspecious.Sitting or lying ?is the question.Doctor should be called to station to check his health.May be he had drugs and alcohol in blood? They never tell truth later.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.May his soul rest in Peace.

Dont be a juge and pass a judgement without any evidence. From the report it looks like he died due to exhaustion, mental stress or some such cause. Policemen too are human and they have to do their duty of keeping peace in the community. He was a nuissance and the people of the area complained and on that complaint the police lodged him in their cell. Does that prove their guilt? Suppose you were the policeman in charge what better thing would you have done?

Most Police men and women are not human...they are psychotic creatures who have joined the police force to massage their egos and to titillate their psychotic fantasies..
