Mangalore, Dec 11:  A community awareness campaign on solid waste management was arranged at St Agnes College on Saturday December 10, by the department of commerce as part of an educative programme by St Agnes Education Institution.

In this regard, the students performed many activities to create awareness on solid waste management.

A common sight is that garbage is thrown everywhere without any civic sense which is causing serious health hazards to both human beings and animals. The main reason is because more people stay in urban areas which produce more solid waste than rural areas, so the immediate need is to create awareness and to educate the people on the importance of effective management, was the message conveyed by the students.

Dr Prem D’ Souza, principal, and Dr Devi Prabha Alva, staff co-coordinator, were present on the occasion.
