Udupi: Accused home nurse arrested in gold, diamond jewellery theft case

Udupi, Nov 20: A home nurse who had stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 31,17,100 from the house where he was working as a home nurse has been arrested by Udupi town police.

A theft case involving gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 31,17,100 was reported at the Udupi town police station by Prasad S S. According to the complaint, Siddappa K Kodli, who was employed as a home nurse at the residence, allegedly committed the theft on November 17 between 9:15 AM and 1:15 PM. The stolen items, weighing approximately 427 grams, were taken from a glass cabinet in the living room and a locked cupboard in the bedroom.

The Udupi town police initiated an investigation. Led by police inspector Ramachandra Nayak, the investigation team, including PSI Eranna Shiragumpi, PSI Puneet from Udupi town police station, and PSI Pavan Kumar from Udupi CEN police station, along with officers Abdul Basheer, Santosh, Chetan, Praveen Kumar, and Praveen, worked diligently to track the accused and recover the stolen property.

On November 19, the police arrested the accused, Siddappa K Kodli (23), a resident of Kustagi taluk, Koppal district. Upon further investigation, the team recovered stolen valuables worth approximately Rs 30,00,000, including 374.45 grams of gold, silver, and diamond jewellery, from a concealed location.

The accused has been presented before the court for further legal proceedings.

    While appointing home nurse also from agency, the patient must inform nearest police about his details, so it will be a easy job for Police. Because of there are more old patients and their children are in foreign country, I think it is better to inform about the nurse and agency.

    Before appointing nurses need to check for valid certificate. These days many institutions run nursing colleges but actual nursing education is not provided. They are not trained but certificates are given.
