Mangaluru: Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences organizes 'RC Week 24' event

Mangaluru, Nov 23: The RC Week 24 was organized by the unit of Respiratory Therapy Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences (YSAHS), and took place at the YSAHS campus in Mudipu on November 21 and 22.

The event aimed to emphasize the critical role of respiratory therapists in healthcare, particularly in neonatal and pediatric settings, while providing a platform for students and professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills. The event was presided by Dr Sunita Saldanha, dean, Yenepoya Allied and Healthcare Professions, Dr Mithun H K, associate professor, department of Pediatrics, Yenepoya Medical College was the guest of honor of the the event and Dr Leslie Lewis, professor & head, department of Pediatrics, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal was the chief guest. The faculties of unit of Respiratory Therapy Graced the event with their presence.

Day 1 of the event quiz and e-poster competitions was held for the students on November 21. The theme of the quiz competition was respiratory therapy and related healthcare concepts encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing. During the e-poster competition the participants showcased innovative ideas and findings through digital posters, fostering creativity and research-based learning.

Day 2 of the event on the November 22 had a series of events planned. The event began with a formal inaugural ceremony led by key dignitaries, including the presiding officer, chief guest, and guest of honor. Post inaugural ceremony, a lung model exhibition was conducted, showcasing various respiratory system models aimed at educating attendees about lung anatomy and function.

Event also consisted of a guest lecture by the chief guest of the event Dr Leslie Lewis, professor & head, department of Pediatrics, KMC, Manipal on the topic ‘A lung model exhibition was conducted, showcasing various respiratory system models aimed at educating attendees about lung anatomy and function’. The talk emphasized the indispensable role of respiratory therapists in pediatric and neonatal healthcare, focusing on their contributions to improving patient outcomes.

The winners of the quiz, e-poster, and lung model exhibition were awarded trophies in recognition of their outstanding performance and contributions during the event. The event concluded with a series of cultural performances that showcased the diverse talents of the participants and students. These performances provided an entertaining and engaging finale, fostering camaraderie and celebration among attendees.

RC Week 24 successfully highlighted the importance of respiratory therapy as a specialized field in healthcare, particularly in the treatment of neonatal and pediatric patients. The event brought together professionals, students, and educators, providing an excellent platform for learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
The activities, including the lung model exhibition and the guest lecture by Dr Leslie Lewis, were key highlights that contributed to the event's educational and interactive success.
