Mangaluru, Nov 23:  Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, pressing for the expedited completion of crucial infrastructure projects and the launch of new initiatives to accelerate Mangaluru’s development ahead of the winter session of Parliament.

The meeting comes after Sitharaman’s recent visit to the city, where Chowta had outlined the region's priorities.

In his appeal, Chowta stressed the strategic importance of several projects aimed at transforming Mangaluru into a key trade, commerce, and innovation hub. Top on the list are the long-pending Mangaluru-Bengaluru Highway (NH-75) completion, the Indian Coast Guard Academy, and the merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways.

Chowta also proposed new initiatives to boost the region’s economy, including attracting Global Capability Centres and establishing a p,remier banking institution. “These initiatives will turn Mangaluru into a major hub for economic activity and bolster its coastal security,” Chowta said after the meeting. “I’m confident these projects will bring about the holistic development of Dakshina Kannada,” he said.

The MP also made a strong case for an Institute of Banking Research and Training (IBRT), citing the region's legacy as the heart of India’s banking sector. "Our region is the cradle of banking, and it’s only fitting we host a premier institution to honor that legacy,” Chowta added.

Aligning these projects with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047, Chowta reiterated his commitment to driving progress, innovation, and balanced regional growth for Dakshina Kannada.

Elevate Mr. Chowta to a higher-grade role within the party as a functionary, keeping him engaged with responsibilities at that level. Gradually, this shift in focus will likely draw his attention away from the local vision and the developmental work currently being undertaken . stand padina cycle budlekka ..it never moves even though one is peddling and the wheel is moving

Share of central funds will be released only if the ruling government conducts elections to various taluk boards and metropolitan cities municipality and corporations. These rules are enshrined in our constitution to which the leaders of state do belive but don't implement. Rules of constitution do not apply to Rahul and his congress party as they have never read it. This is why they are demanding and criticizing the Central government. These rules have been enshrined in constitution to safeguard democracy.
