Sahitya Akademi Konkani Advisory Board conducts Nari Chetana programme in Bengaluru

Mangaluru, Dec 1: The Konkani Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, organised its Nari Chetana programme in Bengaluru on November 30 at K V Subbanna Aptha Rangamandira.

Melvyn Rodrigues, convener of the Konkani Advisory Board, delivered the introductory remarks, emphasizing the significance of Nari Chetana. Antony Barkur compered the event and extended a warm welcome to the gathering.

Sreevidya Kamat, member of the Konkani Advisory Board, chaired the event and engaged in an interactive session with the participants.

The programme showcased diverse literary works by women writers. Wilma Bantwal recited her poems, Janet Vas presented a short story, Florine Roche read a chapter from her published travelogue on Japan, and Indu Gersappe shared her poetry.

Renowned Kannada writer Jayant Kaikini graced the occasion, appreciating the works presented by the authors.

The event featured an hour-long monologue enactment titled Deepadharini performed by Sreevidya Kamat.

Gopinath of K V Subbanna Aptha Rangamandira was also present at the event.

The programme was jointly organised in collaboration with Anubhooti.

Nari Chetana is a literary programme series exclusively dedicated to women writers of India. It provides a platform for women to express themselves through poetry readings, short story presentations, and panel discussions. At zonal and national levels, Nari Chetana features participants from various languages and genres. The programme is conducted in all 24 languages of the Sahitya Akademi.
