Udupi, Dec 3: The Hindu Hitarakshana Forum has organized a massive protest rally to condemn the ongoing atrocities, killings, assaults, and violence faced by Hindus in Bangladesh. The rally will be held at the Krishna Math parking area on December 4.
Addressing a press conference on December 3, district leader of the Hindu Hitarakshana Forum, Radhakrishnan Mendon, said, “This rally aims to raise awareness about the dire living conditions and the destruction of religious centres in Bangladesh, which have left the minority Hindu community vulnerable and struggling for survival.”
Radhakrishnan highlighted the alarming decline in the Hindu population in Bangladesh since 1947, from 24 percent to just 8 percent. “Over 600 temples and religious centres have been destroyed. The ISKCON temple, which provided meals to thousands daily, has been vandalized. Women and girls are subjected to heinous crimes, and the worsening conditions are forcing many Hindus to flee as refugees,” he said.
The protest rally seeks to demand immediate intervention to ensure the safety and security of Hindus in Bangladesh. A memorandum will be submitted to the Governor highlighting the urgent need for action.
The rally will begin at 3 pm from Jodukatte and will proceed through Udupi Service Bus Stand, City Bus Stand, and Kalsanka, culminating at the parking premises of Sri Krishna Math.
A formal event will follow at 4.30 pm at the Krishna Math parking area under the presidency of Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of paryaya Puttige Math.
The protest is expected to draw around 10,000 participants and has received support from various religious and social organizations.
President of Udupi ISKCON centre Govind Das, general secretary of Shabarimale Ayyappa Seva Samajam Ranjith Shetty Havanje, and leader Akhilesh were present at the press conference.
