Puttur: Pepper prices surge to Rs 650 per kilo

Puttur, Dec 6: After remaining stagnant for a prolonged period, the price of pepper has surged significantly, reaching Rs 650 per kilogram.

On December 5, pepper was priced at Rs 640 per kilogram in the Campco market, while outside markets sold it at Rs 650. A steady rise in prices has been observed, with the Campco market quoting Rs 610 per kilogram on November 25, Rs 615 on November 26, Rs 620 on November 30, Rs 625 on December 3, Rs 630 on December 4, and Rs 640 on December 5.

Rubber prices have also shown a slight increase. On December 5, the Campco market recorded graded rubber at Rs 195 per kilogram, while scrap-grade rubber was priced at Rs 128 per kilogram. On November 27, these prices were Rs 186 and Rs 121, respectively.

Meanwhile, the demand for Single Chol arecanut is rising in the outer markets. Traders predict its price might soon cross Rs 475 per kilogram. On December 5, Single Chol arecanut was priced at Rs 458 per kilogram, while Double Chol fetched Rs 500 per kilogram. Coconut was sold at Rs 47 per kilogram, and dry coconut at Rs 140 per kilogram.
