Bengaluru, Dec 6: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah paid glowing tributes to the Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar, and described him as the indefatigable fighter for equality of all citizens.

Speaking after offering floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar by garlanding his statue in front of Vidhana Soudha to mark the 68th death anniversary, Siddaramaiah said Dr Ambedkar was a valiant fighter for ensuring equality of all citizens, a task undertaken by Buddha.

The Chief Minister said Dr Ambedkar had drafted the best Constitution of a country in the world and said it must be implemented by genuine persons, who respect and honour Dr Ambedkar’s ideals and principles.

Dr Ambedkar has struggled to create a society which guaranteed the rights, opportunities to all citizens, especially the Dalits and those who were facing exploitation and injustice, he said.

Siddaramaiah said human beings should love one another and should never hate others. India is a multi-cultural and multi-religious society.

Dr Ambedkar was born as a Hindu but in his final days, he had vowed not to die as a Hindu and embraced Buddhism. Unfortunately, he did not last long after he left Hinduism to become a Buddhist, Siddaramaiah said and emphasised that Dr Ambedkar’s fight against casteism was more relevant in the present context.

Ballari Drugs Controller suspended

The Chief Minister voiced his concern over the death of another pregnant woman in Ballari district and said the government has already placed the Drugs Controller under suspension.

“The government is examining how the repeated deaths occur in the district and necessary action will be taken after inquiry,” he added.
