Kundapur: MP B Y Raghavendra inaugurates distribution of 95,000 school bags under rural literacy

Kundapur, Dec 6: Under the National Rural Literacy Mission, which operates under the central government, 95,000 school bags will be distributed free of cost to all students from classes 1 to 7 in government schools across eight assembly constituencies within the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. The initiative was symbolically inaugurated by Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra on Friday at the Government Kannada and English Medium Higher Primary School, Durgigudi, Shivamogga.

Speaking to the media later, MP Raghavendra announced plans to extend the initiative in the future to cover students from classes 8 to 10 in government high schools. He also revealed that sweaters, notebooks, and other learning materials will be distributed for free under the National Literacy Mission.

The initiative will benefit 94,056 students from 2,013 schools, with district-wise allocations as follows:

  • Bhadravathi: 261 schools, 11,357 students
  • Hosanagara: 217 schools, 6,772 students
  • Sagara: 297 schools, 10,174 students
  • Shikaripura: 229 schools, 14,914 students
  • Shivamogga taluk: 310 schools, 17,909 students
  • Sorab: 306 schools, 13,627 students
  • Thirthahalli: 201 schools, 5,964 students
  • Byndoor: 192 schools, 13,339 students

MP Raghavendra expressed his commitment to improving educational resources for government school students and ensuring access to essential supplies to support their learning journey.
