Kundapur, Dec 7: CPM leader Dr K Prakash came down heavily on the Modi government for its failure to deliver on its promise of creating 20 crore jobs.

Speaking at the CPM's 8th District conference, he highlighted the growing unemployment crisis, stating that the situation has worsened in the last ten years. "Factories with 30,000 workers have only 1,000 permanent employees, and unemployment is rampant in every district and town. People are returning home with empty hands, unable to find work," he said.

Dr Prakash also criticized the government’s shift toward a contract-based employment system, making job security a thing of the past.

He accused the Modi government of using employment as a means to benefit capitalists, adding, "Employment has become an opportunity for the rich to exploit, while the country's wealth is being sold off."

Dr Prakash further spoke about how certain groups are undermining the constitution, stating that while India's constitution guarantees equality, some vested interests are speaking against it. "They are going against the constitution's core principles," he added.

CPM leader A S Acharya, who performed the flag hoisting ceremony, stressed that true democracy exists only within the CPM, where leadership is chosen by the party members, unlike other political parties where decisions are made by a high command.

Yadav Shetty, another key leader, pointed out how BJP manipulates religious sentiments for political gain, while the CPM stands firm in supporting the underprivileged, including unorganized workers, daily wage labourers, and other marginalised groups.

A significant resolution passed at the conference demanded the establishment of a Government Medical College in Udupi, a move that was widely supported by the attendees.

The event, held in Udupi, was attended by prominent CPM leaders, including district secretary Balakrishna Shetty, welcome committee secretary Rajeev Padukone, welcome committee treasurer Nagarathna Naada, and district board members H Narasimha, Suresh Kallagara, and Chandrashekar.

Rajeev Padukone welcomed the gathering, Sreedhar Naada hosted the event, and Nagarathna Naada delivered the vote of thanks.
