MP Kota Poojary vows to double Mangaluru-Karwar track, merge Konkan Rail with Indian Railways

Kundapur, Dec 8: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has committed to efforts aimed at doubling the railway tracks between Mangaluru and Karwar and merging Konkan Railway with Indian Railways.

He made the statement while laying the foundation for a new Rs 50 lac railway platform at Moodlukatte, funded by the Mangaluru Lions Club.

Poojary shared that discussions with the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had already taken place regarding the merger, but delays persist due to pending decisions between the central and state governments. He emphasised that such a move would drive commercial development and enhance tourism along the coastal region.

Lions district governor Mohammed Haneef spoke about the inconvenience faced by passengers at Kundapura railway station, calling for better facilities. He expressed strong support for the platform development project.

Also present at the event were Lions sub-district governor Sapna Suresh, Lions Club Mangaluru president Rovan D'Costa, Konkan Railway Officer Asha Shetty, and other dignitaries.
