Mangaluru, Dec 11: The Mangaluru Bar Association will initiate a postcard campaign demanding the establishment of a high court bench in Mangaluru during the state-level cricket and throwball tournament, scheduled from December 13 to 15 at Nehru Maidan and NMPT Ground, Panambur. This was announced by the Bar Association president, Raghavendra.

Speaking about the campaign, Raghavendra stated that the event will serve as an ideal platform to highlight the demand, as it will be attended by lawyers and Bar Association presidents from various districts. They will actively participate in the campaign to garner support for the cause.

“Mangaluru is well-suited for a high court bench, with adequate infrastructure in place. Its establishment here will not only benefit the city but also nearby districts like Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Uttara Kannada. Moreover, with nearly 30% of cases pending in Bengaluru, a high court bench in Mangaluru will expedite the resolution of these cases,” Raghavendra emphasized.

The association also plans to meet chief minister Siddaramaiah on December 18 to submit a memorandum, urging the allocation of funds in the state budget for setting up the high court bench.
