Bantwal, Dec 20: Former vice president of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, M Tungappa Babngera, has been appointed as a member of Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission by the state government.

Bangera had been elected twice as zilla panchayat member from Sarapadi constituency. He has discharged various responsibilities in BJP so far. He has been active in several social, educational, and religious organizations. He is the founder president of Punjalakatte Swastik Friends Club, which has been organizing free mass marriage programmes and other events.

He has been involved with various pro-people movements including the recent incident of death of students in River Netravati in which he sided with the families of victims for getting proper compensation from the company.
