Yi Mangaluru Annual Day 2024 highlights achievements, announces new leadership

Mangaluru, Dec 13: The Young Indians (Yi) Mangaluru Chapter celebrated its Annual Day on December 7 at The Avatar Convention, Attavar, marking the culmination of a remarkable year filled with impactful initiatives and growth.

Young Indians, an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), provides a platform for Indian youth to lead and influence the nation’s future. Established in 2002, Yi has over 7000 members across 69 chapters, including a strong presence of 30,000 YUVA members in colleges. Yi Mangaluru, founded in 2020 under the vision of past CII Mangaluru chairman Gaurav Hegde, has grown significantly, driven by its commitment to fostering youth leadership.

The Annual Day event commenced with a public session compered by membership chair Ar Ashrika Amin. Chapter chair M Athmika Amin welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of Yi and its initiatives.

The event was graced by deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Mullai Muhilan MP, CII Mangaluru chairman Ajith Kamath, and chief guest Nivedan Nempe, known for his innovations in Areca Tea and Mystic Aromatics.

Addressing the audience, deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan praised Yi Mangaluru’s branding of the city through its flagship event, Thatasth, and invited the chapter to collaborate on tourism enhancement initiatives. Chief guest Nivedan Nempe shared his entrepreneurial journey, inspiring the gathering with his resilience and innovation. The session was moderated by YUVA chair Durgadas Shetty.

Chapter co-chair CA Salome Lobo Pereira proposed the vote of thanks.

In the business session, compered by entrepreneurship and learning chair Arjun Dsouza, chapter chair Athmika Amin highlighted the chapter’s accomplishments in 2024. Yi Mangaluru achieved significant milestones, including 100+ activities, doubling its membership to 52, and engaging over 10,000 college students and 1,500 school students. Initiatives such as the launch of Project S.O.S (Save Our Seas), Thatasth 2024, the YUVA badminton tournament in aid of accessibility, and the first Braille menu launch in Mangaluru were among its key achievements.

Star performers of 2024 were recognized, including Ar Ashrika Amin, Aditya Padmanabha Pai, Dr Megha Gokul, Madhukar Kudva, Shohan J Shetty, Sharan A Shetty, Sharon Dsouza, Aajeeth Kumar, Adti Bansal, and Ashish Rai.

CII Mangaluru chairman Ajith Kamath congratulated the chapter for its stellar performance and launched the Annual Report 2024.

As the chapter transitions into 2025, it announced its new leadership team: chapter chair CA Salome Lobo Pereira and co-chair Durgadas Shetty.

The event was attended by past CII chairman Gaurav Hegde, past Yi Mangaluru chairs Ashith Hegde and Sameeksha Shetty, EC members of Yi Mangaluru, and representatives from CII Mangaluru, KCCI, CREDAI, and Evolve.

Yi Mangaluru looks forward to another year of fostering youth leadership and creating a lasting impact in the community.
