Udupi: Fire Sparked by Short Circuit Destroys Shop

Udupi, Dec 26: In a fire that broke out on the night of Saturday December 24, a shop belonging to Sadananda Salian at Kallianpur Santekatte near here was gutted. The loss due to the accidental fire has been put at two lac rupees.

A number of clothes handed over by customers for ironing, refrigerator, some items used for agriculture, buckets, pitchers etc were turned into ash. Fire brigade personnel from Malpe came on the scene and brought fire under control.

In a complaint filed with the police, Salian said that electric short circuit was responsible for the tragedy.

Municipal councillor, Jayanand Nayak, former zilla panchayat member, Janardana Tonse, entrepreneur, Pramod Madhwaraj, and some others visited the spot.
