Udupi: Teenager held for performing bike stunts, rash driving in Manipal

Udupi, Jan 5: A teenager was arrested for performing dangerous stunts and rash driving in and around Manipal city limits after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The arrested accused is Mohammed Ashik, a 19-year-old resident of Athradi.

The viral video showed Ashik performing a dangerous bike stunt (wheeling) with a pillion rider on NH 169(A) and Rajatadri Road in Manipal, endangering public safety. The video quickly drew widespread attention to the reckless behaviour.

Manipal police arrested Ashik and seized the scooter used for the stunt, a TVS Access 125 (KA.20.HC 6899).

Under the leadership of Manipal Police Station PI Devaraj T V, a team consisting of sub-inspectors Anil and Akshay Kumari, along with staff members Vivek, Prasanna, Imran, Suresh Shetty, and Sukumar Shetty Rudrava, acted swiftly on the incident.

A case has been registered against the accused at Manipal Police Station, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.

It is worth noting that Ashik already has a previous case registered against him at Manipal police station for rash and negligent driving.
