Sullia: Employee Pockets Ten Rupees - Gets Caught by Lokayukta!

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Dec 30: An employee working at the taluk office here was caught by the Lokayukta police, after he pocketed ten rupees from a person who had applied for the renewal of his gun licence. The incident occurred on Thursday December 29.

The employee concerned has been identified as Razak, a ‘D’ group employee, who was discharging duties in the position of a clerk in the department that handles gun licence renewal.

A person, who had approached the office, had offered a hundred rupee currency note towards the payment of Rs 90 due towards the lincence renewal. Although the employee offered to return ten rupees, the citizen asked Razak to keep it.

The Lokayukta officials, who were on a visit to the taluk office then, saw the incident, and questioned the employee concerned. The applicant confirmed that he had offered ten rupees to the employee on his own accord, and that the employee concerned had not demanded the sum.

The Lokayukta officials, however, insisted that they would take action against both the applicant and the employee for paying and receiving bribe. They also asked the tahsildar to issue a memo to Razak for discharging duties of a clerk, in spite of being a ‘D’ grade employee, and to initiate disciplinary action.

'The Lokayukhta sleuths can do much better than a 10 rupee catch and a 'lakh rupee' publicity ! They appear now to be the 'filmy police' ,appearing on the scene after all the action is over! The BBMP Siddaya's raid is a case in point! His house, putting any Maharaja's palace to shame was there all the while -wasn't it?
Only when he fell out of favour -the raid followed! What say ?The octopus stranglehold on corruption in all departments is not that easy to untangle! Corruption it seems is here to stay the 'demon' in it seemingly having a hearty laugh at the 'real crusaders ' against it , as well as the pretenders!!

Collecting 1 Rupee illegally in pubic toilet is also a kind of corruption. Today Lokayuktha has caught a person for accepting 10 Rs. Tomorrow it might catch person accepting 1 Rs.

In some of the petrol bunks in Bangalore if you ask for 100 Rs petrol, they stop the meter for Rs 99.80. They loot 20 piase from thousands of customers. It might be a small 20 paise, but it is a corruption. Lokayuktha should look into this case also..

This incident has definitely made a big impact on both bribe givers and takers.

Lokayuktha does not need publicity. Every week one or more raid is happening. Couple of days back, BBMP Siddayya's house was raided in Kanakapura.

We should thank Lokayuktha that it has come to the rescue of coolie workers also. Don't make any false allegations on Lokayuktha. We need to support them, does not matter it is 10 Rs or 10 crores Rs.

The Lokayukta is right in finding the ppl involved guilty of corruption. Considering the magnitude of the money involved however, both parties can be let off with a stern warning. The question to be asked is, was the incident worthy of being published in the media? I guess it is, even if it only serves the purpose of educating the readers. The Lokayukta can however move on while we debate over it.

If willing given then its becomes a tips, it can be an appreciation for the good service. However Lokayukta should concentrated on blood suckers the officials in the airports( who are just waiting there thinking today which Bakar to catch ?) , police departments, ministers office & their houses, rta officials, agricultural dept, forest dept such high ranked officers places. May be the 10 rupee officer is wrong but other robbers whom we find every where lokayukta fails to find. Why ? Because the big bribe takers fight against them hence only weaker section they know to catch.

The Lokayukta has done the right thing. Public servants are paid salaries for their services so they should not accept tips as it amounts to bribes. It starts from Rs. 10 and ends up in lakhs. If the applicant wishes to give money, he can put in a chairty box rather then help someone who already has a job. This incident will instill good attitudes in the minds of the government servants and also the public. God bless Lokyukta for their excellent service to the people of India. Jai Hind.

Its a tamasha!!! In Mangalore DC office there are borker's who set up deals for passing land registration papers, It runs in thousands, Its a clean set up , the Lawyer who deals with land registration has his agents,But the lokayukta palcard is a dirty filled mute spectator, My last experience with Karnad revenue office was even more worse, Nothing moved untill the lady was bribed. I have noticed women in revenue dept are more open in demadning bribe, Lest you open your mouth a face womens defamation suit. Lokayukta inspectors get their daily due in all cases. In Mangalore DC office even a marriage registration requires 1000INR bribe for a quicker process.

Razak would have troubled the person before accepting the application for renewal of license. That made applicant to offer him 10 Rs.

    Good action by Lokayuktha.

"Aane kaddaru kaLLA, Adike kaDDaru kaLLA"

Corruption means not only with higher officials\ it is with root level also. Some people earn only Rs 30-100 as daily wages. Imagine how they feel to give Rs 10 bribe for officials.

Here I am not supporting corruption. But try to understand the situation. Catching the poor guy and showing like lokayukta is very strong .that is not acceptable.
Mr lokayukta think according to the humanity basis.
What you did for the people they earned in lakhs and crores?. Have you taken any action? .have you done any enquiry?.
But now you are catching the poor guy took 10 ruppes that also without demand.
    Very shame ..
Now the Govt should take action on that lokayukta because he has not shown any humanity and catching the innocent guy.
