Bangalore, Jan 6: T S Ambuja, who was a popular in Kannada writer known for humorous articles, passed away at a hospital in Bangalore on Thursday January 5. She was 56.

Ambuja was the daughter of renowned Yakshagana artiste, Malpe Ramadas Samaga. She has left behind mother, husband, a son, and a daughter.

Ambuja had left for Bangalore on December 28 to stay with her son and daughter, who live there. On Wednesday night, she fell unconscious due to low blood pressure, it is learnt. She was admitted into the hospital immediately, but treatment failed to heal her.

‘Rangada Rangoli’, collection of humourous Yakshagana episodes by Shakaranarayana Samaga, elder brother of Ramadas Samadaga, and ‘Samagayana’, biography of Ramadas Samaga, were compiled by Ambuja. ‘Hway Matten Vishesha?’, ‘Hello Aunty Hi Uncle’, and ‘Naguvina Siri’ were the published collections of her humorous articles.  She also had brought out a book containing notes on Sanskrit maxims, titled ‘Mareta Manikya – Sanskrita Nyayagalu’.

The writer was known for satire and ready wit. She had won several awards and recognitions including Attimabbe Award. She had functioned as the general secretary of Udupi District Women Writers Association and member of ‘Suhasam’. She was a respected figure in the field of bringing together literary personalities.
