Bangalore: Shell out Three Rupees More Per Litre of Milk

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 6: The government has reportedly given its clearance to Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to increase the price of milk sachets across the board by three rupees a litre. The hike is likely to come into effect from Saturday January 7.

With this hike, blue milk sachets will be priced at Rs 24 a litre and green sachets will cost Rs 27. The orange coloured sachets will be sold at Rs 30, and the price of milk in yellow sachets will be hiked to Rs 20 a litre.

The pinch will be felt most by people in the coastal districts, where the price of KMF milk is already a rupee more than other districts.

KMF had approached the government for permission to increase price of its milk sachets by five rupees a litre. It had cited increased cost of procurement, fodder, and prevailing milk prices in neighbouring states, in support of its demand. After protracted deliberations, the government, it is gathered, has decided to allow KMF to increase milk prices by three rupees a litre.

    Rudolf Rodrigues,

    Your statements r ridiculous.

I request you to do farming only for 1 year, come back and comment.

You need to understand that farmers are at risk end.

    * One cloudy day in a summer can erode mango crop.
    * One heavy rain can vanish the paddy field.
    * Generation of one kind of mosquito can engulf whole areca nut, rubber forest
    * Collapse of vegetable price in market can bring many people to streets.
    * etc.

I am writing this because I am born to a agricultural family. I had worked in fields with my parents. I know the problems which a farmers family can face.

Today we are leading good life because we are not dependent on agriculture. We are planning to stop farming soon since we are incurring loss. This is the truth buddy!

To be frank with you we used to sell 2 liters of milk daily which took care our daily family expenses for years long. Many times that was the only income for us. I can understand how happy our farmers will be today to hear this price hike....

There were days of power cut between 7AM to 7PM in villages in 96-97. We used to get up at 5 AM in the morning and water our coconut plant. I have seen this problem in 96-97, this exists even today in some parts of state.

Farmers are next only to god. God created us and our farmers are feeding us.. So my kind request- pls support our farmers.

Food prices are increasing very faster than petrol. But we don't realize that.. The world will face two severe problems soon. 1st is food, 2nd is energy.

Good move to help milk proudcers. How about the govt. planning to dispose redundant cows so that ilegal beef business doesnt prosper? People should only buy beef from licenced vendors. Ass per my knowledge the clandistine beef business is thrushing on the cattles stolen by the illegal beef vendors. I strongly say no to the beef traded from stolen cattles.. Justice needs to be done the wet cows and the owners of these cattles. Those who steal cattles must be arrested and sent to jail. However there should not be any restrictions on the sale and buying of cattles which is legal and judicial sanction.

Hi Dinesh, our farmers no longer cultivate paddy, vegetables, and tend milch animals, rather they are minting money in areca, rubber, etc. So, there are no poor farmers today, they are all well off with so many concessions given by the Govt. to help them! The burden of this will fall on the common man. He will have to skip giving that small cup of milk to his children. This hike is another blow to the already suffering general populace under high inflation!!!
